About Word Search
Word Search is a free online word search game made for kids. Words are hidden in a grid of letters, and each word in the list has a little picture next to it, so children who are still learning to read can find them too. Drag across a word to circle it in a bright color.
How to play
- Look at the word list and its pictures.
- Drag from the first letter of a word to the last letter. If it matches, the word is circled and crossed off the list.
- Words can go across or down. In later rounds they can go diagonally too.
- Find all the words before the time bar runs out for 5 bonus points. You have 3 lives, and running out of time costs one.
Themes and levels
Each round has a theme: animals, food, things that go, or nature. The first grids are small (6 by 6) with four short words. As you play, the grid grows up to 9 by 9 with more and longer words, like RABBIT, TRACTOR and RAINBOW.
Word searches build spelling, letter recognition and focus. This one is free on phones, tablets and computers, with no sign-up, no printing and nothing to download.
