About Big or Small
Big or Small is a free size game for toddlers and preschool kids. Ellie the elephant and Pip the mouse run a little show in a sunny meadow full of flowers. Cute smiling things stand in a row: apples, ducks, fish, balloons, cupcakes, stars, ladybugs and teddy bears, all in different sizes. When Ellie holds up the sign, tap the BIG one. When Pip holds it up, tap the SMALL one. A friendly voice reads every question out loud, so children who cannot read yet can play too. Some parents call it a big and small game or a biggest and smallest game.
What kids learn
Comparing sizes is one of the first math skills children learn, long before numbers. The first rounds show just two things with a huge difference, perfect for 2 and 3 year olds. Then both questions get mixed, a third and a fourth thing join in, and the sizes get closer together, so kids have to look carefully. Along the way they learn the words big, small, bigger, biggest and smallest.
Big or Small is free, with no sign-up and no download. It works in the browser on phones, tablets and computers.
